The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released November 2023 Consumer Price Index (CPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes are on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- All items decreased 0.2% in the last month and increased 3.1% in the last twelve months
- Food at home fell 0.5% from October and increased 1.7% since November 2022
- Cereals + bakery products rose 0.1% in the last month and increased 3.4% in the last twelve months
- Meats, poultry, fish + eggs decreased 0.8% since October and rose 0.1% from November 2022
- Dairy + related products fell 0.3% in the last month and decreased 1.4% in the last twelve months
- Fruits + vegetables decreased 0.3% from October and increased 0.4% since November 2022
- Other foods fell 0.7% in the last month and increased 3.0% in the last twelve months
- Gasoline (all types) fell 7.3% since October and decreased 8.9% from November 2022
- All items, less food and energy, rose 0.1% in the last month and increased 4.0% in the last twelve months
- Apparel fell 3.5% from October and rose by 1.1% since November 2022
- New vehicles decreased 0.4% in the last month and rose 1.3% in the last twelve months
- Used cars + trucks decreased 0.7% since October and fell 3.8% from November 2022
- Motor vehicle parts + equipment fell 0.1% in the last month and decreased 1.5% in the last twelve months
- Medical care commodities rose 0.5% from October and increased 5.0% since November 2022
- Alcoholic beverages fell 0.2% in the last month and increased 2.9% in the last twelve months
- Tobacco + smoking products rose 1.1% since October and increased 7.7% from November n2022
- Personal care products fell 0.6% in the lat month and rose 4.3% in the last twelve months
