The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released June 2019 Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. The All commodities index declined by 0.6% over the last month & decreased by 1.9% over the last year on a seasonally unadjusted basis. Leading the decreases was refined petroleum with a 7.3% decline from May – June 2019 and a 13.7% decrease from June ’18 – ’19. Fuels and related products and power also declined by 3.3% over the last month and decreased by 10.1% over the last year. Bolts, nuts, screws, rivets and washers increased by 0.8% from May – June 2019 and rose by 8.5% from June ’18 – ’19. Lighting fixtures rose by 0.3% over the last month and increased 5.9% over the last year. Heating equipment increased by 1.3% from May – June ’19 and rose by 5.3% from June ’18 – ’19. Construction sand, gravel and crushed stone increased by 1.1% over the last month and rose by 5.1% over the last year. Concrete ingredients and related products increased by 1.1% from May – June 2019 and rose by 4.7% from June ’18 – ’19. Miscellaneous electrical machinery and equipment increased by 0.4% over the last month and rose by 4.5% over the last year. Fluid milk products rose by 1.4% from May – June ’19 and increased by 4.1% from June ’18 – ’19.
