The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released January Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- Farm products fell 1.4% in the last month and decreased 15.0% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds decreased 0.2% from December and fell 2.2% since January 2023
- Textile products + apparel rose 0.2% in the last month and fell 0.6% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power rose 1.0% since December and decreased by 12.1% from January 2023
- Chemicals + allied products decreased 0.3% in the last month and fell 4.5% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products increased 0.3% since December and fell by 1.6% since January 2023
- Lumber + wood products rose 0.3% in the last month and fell 4.1% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products fell 0.7% since December and fell 3.5% from January 2023
- Metals + metal products rose 0.7% in the last month and increased 1.0% in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment increased 1.0% from December and increased 3.4% since January 2023
- Furniture + household durables rose 0.2% in the last month and increased 0.8% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral products increased 2.2% since December and increased 5.0% from January 2023
- Transportation equipment rose 0.4% in the last month and increased 1.8% in the last twelve months
- Miscellaneous products increased 0.6% from December and rose 4.5% since January 2023
