The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released January 2019 Consumer Price Indexes (CPI) today. The all items category increased 0.2% over the last month & by 1.6% over the last year while All items less food and energy increased 0.4% between December ’18 – January 19 & by 2.2% over the last year. Major appliances increased by 3.4% over the last month and by 9.7% over the last year while the Appliances category increased by 3.1% over the last month & by 6.4% over the last year. Juices and nonalcoholic drinks increased by 2.4% from December ’18 – January 2019 and by 3.3% over the last year while Carbonated drinks increased 3.9% over the last month & by 5.5% over the last year. The Food category increased 0.5% over the last month & by 1.6% over the last year (all inflation rates are calculated with seasonally unadjusted indexes).
