The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released February 2018 Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. The PPI for all commodities increased by 0.8% from January ’18 to February’18 on a seasonally unadjusted basis. Prices for the Farm products, Processed Foods & Feeds group increased 0.6% from January ’18 to February ’18, while Industrial commodities rose 0.8% over the same one month period. Metals and metal products also rose 0.7% over the last month, while Chemicals & Allied Products rose 1.0% during this time. Lumber also rose 4.4% from January ’18 – February ’18, and the Iron and Steel PPI category also rose 1.9% during the same period. The top 10 gainers for the month of February are listed by PPI category in the table below:
