The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released December 2022 Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- Farm products decreased 1.5% in the last month and rose 23.2% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds decreased 1.0% from November 2022 and increased 9.7% since December 2021
- Textile products + apparel fell 0.3% in the last month and increased 7.9% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power decreased 7.2% since November 2022 and rose by 12.1% from December 2021
- Chemicals + allied products decreased 1.8% in the last month and rose 2.2% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products rose 0.1% from November 2022 and increased by 8.4% since December 2021
- Lumber + wood products decreased by 1.6% in the last month and fell by 3.5% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products rose by 0.4% since November 2022 and increased 9.3% from December 2021
- Metals + metal products maintained the last month and decreased 6.9% in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment rose 0.2% from November 2022 and increased 9.1% since December 2021
- Furniture + household durables increased 0.9% in the last month and rose by 8.4% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral products rose 0.2% since November 2022 and increased by 13.2% from December 2021
- Transportation equipment increased 0.2% in the last month and rose by 4.6% in the last twelve months
- Miscellaneous products rose by 0.2% from November 2022 and increased 8.9% since December 2021
