The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released August 2019 Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. The All commodities index declined by 0.8% over the last month & has decreased by 2.0% over the last year on a seasonally unadjusted basis. Meats increased by 2.6% from July to August 2019 and rose by 6.1% from August ’18 – ’19. Dairy products increased by 0.4% over the last month & rose by 6.0% over the last year. Nonferrous metal ores increased by 0.8% from July – August 2019 and rose by 13.6% from August ’18 – August 2019. Lighting fixtures rose by 1.0% over the last month and increased by 5.9% over the last year. Bolts, nuts, screws, rivets & washers increased by 0.6% between July – August 2019 and rose by 7.7% between August ’18 – August 2019. Mobile homes rose by 8.4% over the last month and increased by 7.2% over the last year. Plumbing fixture fittings and trim rose by 0.4% between July – August 2019 and increased by 6.9% between August 2018 – August 2019.
